2020 Ford Expedition vs. 2020 Chevy Tahoe

When it comes to finding a full-size SUV for your family, the choices are numerous. However, not all SUV's are created equal. Two of the top choices are the 2020 Ford Expedition and the 2020 Chevy Tahoe. While both of these models have a lot to offer, which one has what you're looking for?

Exterior Design and Size

Both the 2020 Ford Expedition and the Chevy Tahoe are full-size SUVs with three rows of seating and generous cargo space. Ford and Chevy also make a longer version for extra room. Ford has the Expedition Max while Chevy has the Suburban. On the standard wheelbase, the Ford is just slightly bigger. It stands two inches taller, three inches wider and six inches longer, which translates into just a little more space. Both models have similar features that enhance their rugged appearance, but Ford added the King Ranch for a unique look with the Western-themed interior.

When you choose one of these large SUV's, you're probably looking for ample space inside for long family trips. Both the Expedition and the Tahoe meet expectations in the first two rows with plenty of room to stretch out on long journeys. The Ford Expedition does offer more room for the third row, making it a better option if you have older kids or adults who will be traveling.

With a full-size sport utility vehicle, you need a model with ample power to carry your family and tow a boat or RV. Both the Ford and Chevy SUV's step up in this area. At first glance, the Chevy seems to score big with two engine options, including a V6 and V8. However, the 2020 Ford Expedition proves it only needs one engine to do it all. This V6 offers almost as much horsepower as the larger V8 Chevy engine and more torque. It also comes in with more towing capacity at 9,300 pounds compared to 8,400 pounds for the Chevy. Choosing the powerful V6 with the Ford also means better fuel economy than the V8 on the Chevy with 17 mpg city over 14 mpg city for the Tahoe.

Safety is of prime importance in an SUV when you're taking your family with you. Both the Ford and Chevy come equipped with the latest technology to keep you safe on the highway. However, the Expedition makes safety standard on all trims with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 system. This system includes blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and more. While all of these features are available on the Tahoe, the only standard safety features are the rearview camera and rear parking sensors. To get the other features, you have to upgrade to a higher trim or add a package that has what you need.

Feel confident and comfortable driving your family around in either the 2020 Ford Expedition or the Chevy Tahoe. However, to get the most for your money, you're sure to be impressed with what the Expedition has to offer. Check it out at Griffith Ford San Marcos.
